Balmoral Pottery is situated in the Southern Highlands 20 minutes north of Mittagong (about 1.5 hours south of Sydney). Students often arrange to share driving. The pottery is located in a bushland setting in Balmoral Village. It is a unique and beautiful place to work with clay.
Sandy Lockwood has been making pots and teaching for over 25 years. Her teaching experience is broad ranging from beginners to postgraduate level and over many areas of ceramics practice. Her work is widely and internationally recognised.
Balmoral Pottery Classes for 2010
Six Saturdays 10 am to 4pm.
Classes at Balmoral Pottery are small (6 to 8 approx) so students get plenty of one to one attention with a focus on skills & creative development.
During this workshop participants will explore the world of bowls for use in Asian cuisine. From soup, rice and noodle bowls to bowls for fruit, sweets and many other things. Classes will develop your skills in throwing forms and turning feet. they will also include a practical introduction to carving, inlay and use of the brush. Some throwing experience is advisable.
Stoneware clay is provided. Work will be glaze fired and we will discuss the results and share an Asian feast at the conclusion of the workshop.
FEES.
$595 (GST incl) for 6 Saturdays.
A non refundable deposit of $100.00 is requried to secure a place.
