Classes at Balmoral Pottery Teaching Studio are small (up to 9 participants) so students receive plenty of one to one attention. Classes focus on both skills & creative development. Sandy’s teaching style is encouraging and positive, taking into account the level of ability of each student.

Balmoral pottery is situated in the Southern Highlands 20 minutes north of Mittagong (about 1.5 hours south of Sydney). The pottery is located in a bushland setting in Balmoral village. It is a unique and beautiful place to work with clay.

Sandy Lockwood has been making pots and teaching for 40 years. Her teaching experience ranges from beginners to postgraduate level and over many areas of ceramics practice. Her knowledge and work is widely and internationally recognized.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us by email. We look forward to hearing from you.

After another personally very demanding year during 2023, I have decided to reduce the number of courses offered for 2024. This has been a difficult but necessary decision to enable me to continue offering courses. I understand that it may be disappointing, and I do appreciate your support.
